Jon is feeling very discouraged--he turned a corner last night into what he presumes is his actual "nadir". He is 10 days out from the onset of chemotherapy, and according to most estimates, his blood counts are lowest now. Because he is running a fever of 101, we are heading to the hospital. Please pray for Jon's physical and emotional health.
Praying!!!!

ReplyDeleteIt's a marathon. Remember it's a marathon. You can do this. Don't look ahead. Don't look back. Look just in front of you. Praying for you all. You can do this. Much love.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Lance. Omaha sends love to the Dephouses
ReplyDeleteIn Jesus Name we pray!!! Jon and Sarah Lynn, as you pray through your discouragement, allow it to bring wisdom and understanding.....this is the first mile, baby! This is detective work. Study your body, research the affects, you may find a suspect, but then there may be another suspect. uugghh. It's all about being in the moment. All of your family and friends are spiritually wrapping our arms around you. Respect the process. So hard. If anyone can get through this, its you!!! You two are super amazing! Lean completely on your Lord and Savior!! oxoxo
ReplyDeleteOur hearts and minds are with you, Jon.

a poem that is in my heart when seeking consolation from "gardeners hidden and slow", too silent and slow at times.....
ReplyDeleteXVII
Where, inside what forever blissfully watered gardens,
upon what trees
out of what deep and tenderly unpetaled flower-cups,
do the exotic fruits of consolation hang ripening? Those
rare delicacies, of which you find one perhaps
in the trampled meadows of your poverty. Time and again
you have stood there marveling over the sheer size of the
fruit,
over its wholeness, its smooth and unmottled skin
and that the lightheaded bird or the jealous worm under
the ground has not
snatched it away from our hands. Are there such trees,
flown through
by angels and so strangely cared for by gardeners hidden
and slow
that they bear their fruit to nourish us, without being
ours?
Is it true we have never been able (we who are only
shadows and shades), through our ripening and wilting so
early,
to disturb the enormous calm of those patient summers?
rilke
Hang in there Jon and know it will get better!!!!

Rev. John, When I was at my lowest of lows about a year and a half ago with my son very ill, a friend (who is Jewish) urged me to call my church. The outgoing voicemail I reached had directions about what to do if it was an emergency and my friend assured me it was. I was put in touch with you at your home. Your words were so comforting at that time and later. You were so generous with your time and spirit in meeting with and helping my son. I don't know that I ever shared with you how grateful I am. Thank you! Your presence for me and for my son helped us feel God's presence. I pray that God's presence will wrap around, hold and protect you and your family as you go through this journey, giving you each peace, strength and resilience. Thank you and Sarah Lynn for sharing through this blog. You are both an inspiration. Sincerely, Beneth
